Alex Tissiere...Alex Tissiere is an actor, teacher, and life-long learner. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, his love for storytelling began at Richmond Shakespeare, where he discovered how much fun the Bard can be when you approach it with a sense of curiosity and play, and the impact that approach can have on students and adults of all ages and backgrounds. Then, while earning a B.F.A. in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Alex discovered the joy of reconnecting to a generosity of spirit through four years of acting and clown training with Orlando Pabotoy. Also at NYU, Alex completed a minor in Applied Theater that opened his eyes to the world of connecting the arts with students and communities in need, and he hasn't looked back since. As a Teaching Artist, Alex has worked with a variety of New York arts education institutions including The 52nd St Project, Wingspan Arts, Marquis Studios, and Zara Aina, a non-profit serving children in Madagascar, where Alex spent a month working and playing with Malagasy students whose right to education is constantly at risk, even while their hearts remain stunningly open. Currently, Alex serves as the Program Director for Plato Learning, an educational provider using storytelling and active play to unlock students’ love for reading and to discover their inner hero. Plato Learning programs include Camp Half-Blood Brooklyn, a mythological adventure summer camp that inspires kids to become their own legendary heroes.
